Thank you Donna for submitting these photos!
“Both of these photos were taken from our hotel room in Niagara Falls! The first evening we arrived I knew there would be a fireworks show but did not really prepare and did not have a tripod! So my thinking was, just put it on auto and all will be easier. Not the case. I think this is why most of my photos were blurry! The camera was in control and NOT me! So where I wanted to focus, the camera had it’s own idea. This photo challenge has been an “eye opener” for me! I did manage a couple of okay shots, so back to taking control of my photography!”
Thanks so much Donna for your entry! Would you believe, I lived most of my life in N.J. and never made it to Niagara Falls! I love the colors in the first photo but to my eyes, the second photo looks the sharpest. Very difficult shooting at slow shutterspeeds without a tripod. When that is the case, the next best thing, imo, would be to put your camera on a solid surface and use the timer to take the photos; thereby, preventing movement of the camera. Night photography is difficult in itself as the vast amount of darkness can trick your camera into overexposing but your dark areas look nice and dark.
How ideal that you had a room facing the falls!
Great tips Fay! It is a lovely sight, too bad you never got to go!
We splurged on the room with a view!
Even with it’s flaws I prefer the first one! Thanks for sharing. I imagine you heard the falls from your room as well? Like Fay, I’ve not been and do want to go.
YES the falls sounded so nice, we actually had a doorway we could open and listen! Thanks for the comment!
